NanoGit is a local macOS Git client. It does not include analytics, advertising, tracking, or telemetry SDKs, and it does not collect personal data.
1. Repository data
Repository paths, commit history, diffs, branch names, remote URLs, and command output remain on the Mac. NanoGit invokes the installed Git executable, so network access occurs only when the user starts a Git network operation such as clone, fetch, pull, push, or submodule/LFS synchronization.
Repository folder access is granted by the user (Open panel or
drag-and-drop) and restored through security-scoped bookmarks. For
SSH remotes, the user may also authorize their ~/.ssh
folder once; NanoGit stores only that bookmark and does not copy
private keys. Authentication remains under Git, the configured
credential helper, SSH (after authorization), AskPass prompts, and
the operating system. NanoGit does not store passwords in its normal
preferences or command log.
App updates are delivered by the Mac App Store.
2. Local preferences
NanoGit uses UserDefaults to store app settings,
security-scoped bookmarks for recent repositories (up to ten), an
optional security-scoped bookmark for the user-authorized
~/.ssh directory, and related UI state. This data is
used only by NanoGit on the same Mac.
3. Diagnostics
Diagnostics are exported only after an explicit user action. The package contains app, macOS, and Git versions; repository state counts; bounded command timing metadata; and cache usage. It excludes repository and file paths, remote URLs and credentials, commit messages and branch names, diff and file contents, command text, stdout, and stderr.
The exported file stays at the location selected by the user. NanoGit does not upload it automatically.
